Challenge
Although all the rooms in this three bed semi-detached property were a good size, the house had an awkward, boxy layout. Mr and Mrs Wiseman felt it didn’t suit the needs of their growing family, but they really didn’t want to leave their home in East Didsbury.
Solution
After a consultation with Blu Room’s architectural designer, the couple decided to go through with a total redesign of their home. They wanted more space for their growing family without sacrificing garden space, so we also drew up plans for a two-storey extension to the side of the house.
More space for the whole family
The extension meant that there was now room for a brand new family area, a utility room and an office on the ground floor. Upstairs, the large master suite was enhanced with a fantastic walk-in wardrobe and en-suite. There was also room for three smaller bedrooms on the same floor, as well as a bathroom, making a stylish feature of the existing circular window.
A creative loft conversion
Mr and Mrs Wiseman really wanted an extra room to make their home complete, but were unsure of whether their loft was the right shape and size for a conversion. We took this as a challenge, and managed to create a cosy extra room using large roof lights to create the illusion of space. A low, long radiator was installed to keep the room comfortable and two recessed lights in the room fit nicely into the limited ceiling space.
The result of the complete overhaul was absolutely amazing. With increased storage, living space and a place to work from home, the family now had a house that was specifically tailored to their needs.
